WOW! What a Summer it has been

It is hard to believe that summer is over and school is about to start again. I wanted to share some pictures with you from our Library activities in July and August.

In July we had another Lego Mania. This time we use our Crazy Contraptions sets and challenged the students to build items described in the kits. Once again, we had high school "big brothers" on hand to help the kids. If you'd like to see more pictures from that day, you can find them here.

Next up we had a story time featuring the stories of Syd Hoff. We read Sammy the Seal, Oliver, Danny and the Dinosaur, and Duncan the Dancing Duck. We also did crafts and played games based on the books. Pictures of that story time can be found here.

We then had four days of Computer Science/coding at the CS-First: Game Design camp. You can find a few pictures of our campers here.

The beginning of August we had our final story time. This time the theme was Ice Cream. We read stories about ice cream and did some activities that also included the ice cream theme. As a treat we had homemade ice cream made with coconut milk - it was yummy. More pictures.

We challenged the students creativity with our Rosie Revere Engineering Day. We read Rosie Revere, Engineer and The Most Magnificent Thing. We did some engineering experiments and then turned the kiddos loose on our recycling bin to build something magnificent. Want to see more pictures? They are here.

Our final activity was two Maker Mania afternoons. We had multiple stations for the students to visit. Science experiments, electricity, origami, paper airplanes, making cars, making tote bags, and more. The kids (and adults) had a great time and can't wait to do it again. More pictures are here.
